Moncton PRC

Summer Student Fun Part 3

Posted by: ronilie on: August 25, 2011

My name is Teanna Doucette and this is my second summer working at the Pregnancy Resource Centre of Moncton. I am originally from Nova Scotia, but now live in Moncton with my husband. I recently graduated from Crandall University with my BA in History and am returning there in the fall to study my B.Ed. My primary role at the Centre is to meet with clients in both Pregnancy Tests and EWYL appointments. I have thoroughly enjoyed this role, as I get to come alongside the client and walk with them throughout their pregnancy, providing encouragement and support.

At the PRC, we seek to provide both help and hope to our clients through a Christ centered focus. I have also had the opportunity to run a “Moms Time Out program” both this summer and last summer. This program is designed to provide Moms some “time out” of their daily schedule to learn new skills build relationships and enjoy some pampering. Not only has this program been a blessing to our clients, but it has also been such a personal blessing to me as I have been able to meet these young moms and develop relationships with them.

This ministry is truly such an honor to be a part of and it has literally changed my life. The Lord has really used my own personal testimony and past struggles as I have often been able to share my story with clients. It is so amazing to assist our clients and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Summer Student Fun, Part 2

Posted by: ronilie on: July 29, 2011

Hey my name is Ashley LeBlanc and I am currently working at the Pregnancy Resource Center as a summer student. I moved to Moncton this summer from Fredericton, where I was at school last year in a Foundation of Visual Arts program. This fall I am excited to be taking Humanities at Briercrest Bible College in Saskachewan.

As my job is focused on community relations, I have spent a lot of my summer reaching out to the local businesses in search of support, prizes, and funding for the Centre. However I have the privilege to also be involved with working with our clients. Talking with the girls one on one, doing pregnancy tests, peer counseling, and being involved in such a critical point in lives presents the opportunity to be a witness of the love of Christ. And what an amazing opportunity it has been.

I have been blessed this summer by working at PRC. Blessed to be spiritually challenged by the staff and clients, to see the influence of God taking hold in the lives of our clients, and to see the amazing success and potential of the Centre.

Summer Student Fun!

Posted by: ronilie on: July 14, 2011

Hi! My name is Amy Welner, and I’m one of the 3 students hired to work for the summer here at the Pregnancy Resource Centre. I started my job as Client Programs Assistant in the middle of June. Since that time, I have learned so much information about pregnancy, abortion risks, parenting, and the many resources we have here in Moncton. My tasks through the summer include organizing the childcare for our summer program (“Mom’s Time Out”), along with assisting in clients needs, leading “Earn While You Learn” parenting sessions, and peer counseling. Through any situation, we as staff take the opportunity to show God’s love and grace in any way we can. I have thoroughly enjoyed working here. The PRC has been such an incredibly encouraging and positive place to spend my summer.

This summer I was very encouraged by one of our clients. She is young, pregnant, and newly single. She came in to see what services we offered and shared a bit of her story with me as we got talking more. As I got to know her I was more and more impressed with her positive attitude while she was getting herself out of a tough situation. I was so impressed by the way she had taken control of her life with such positivity and excitement.

By working at the PRC, I have also grown in my relationship with Christ by continuously learning to depend on Him instead of relying solely on my own abilities. I know that on my own I’m not equipped to assist the clients that come through the door. However, because I have faith that God is with me and will give me the words to say, I have a renewed confidence to help our clients. It has been an incredible blessing to learn and interact with the clients on a daily basis!

Congratulations Graduates!

This week, four young mothers graduated from the Home With A Heart program! We are so proud of these girls. They committed to this program and worked their hardest to become the best moms they could be for their children!

The Home With A Heart program is a 12 week homemaking program that teaches mothers how to effectively manage their homes with easy routines and tips. A great way to get your life organized and help with the chaos of having kids!

We must say a big thanks to Katie: a wonderful instructor who always comes in with a big smile! Katie encourages and helps out whenever she can. Katie does a lot for the centre and we know the girls loved her :)

A safe place to come

One client’s comment this week really reminded me of why we are here.

She was in for a pregnancy test and told her counsellor she was so relieved to have someone do the test with her. She said if we wouldn’t be there, she would be doing it alone, with no one to talk to. Terrified and alone, we were able to help this client work through all the emotions she was feeling and reassure her.

If you think you might be pregnant, and like this client, you don’t want to find out alone, please call us or walk in for a free Pregnancy Test. Our counsellors will talk you through it and will inform you about what options are available to you, what ressources are available for pregnant women in the community and support you – whatever decision you make.

*Please know that we do not refer for abortions but we will help you make an informed decision.
